Hamelin Pool: Stromatolites

In the toxic beginning of the world, bacteria got together to create Stromatolites that released oxygen and  raised the earth's oxygen level to 20% of the atmosphere which, in turn supported life on earth. These one-celled organisms provided the oxygen for all the plants and animals that followed. These are found in only two places in the world... Discovered in 1954 near Shark's Bay.
