Driving from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Chicago we saw lots of horse and buggies on the roads. Along the way, we stopped in Nappanee, Indiana and explored Amish Acres 80 acre farm and took in all the interpretive features. We have been through Amish country in Pennsylvania and Indiana before, but never really understood who they were, where they came from and what their history was. I was surprised to find out that they are of Swiss heritage. What an interesting life style to try and maintain in this day and age.
