Newfoundland has about 150,000 moose, but what's really cool is that they are all descendants of a mere four moose that were introduced from New Brunswick in 1904. Approximately 30,000 are harvested annually. There are more moose per square mile than elsewhere in North America and we were told constantly to watch out for the moose and not to drive after dark. We did finally see 5 moose in the week we were in Newfoundland, but this quartered moose with its head on the ground where this little kid was playing was the first moose we saw.
